Classical Punk

BACK TO MONTY

Classical Punk (released in the USA as "Symphony of Destruction") by the London Punkharmonic Orchestra remains the most bizarre commission that Monty ever received. It is a sixteen piece string orchestral arrangement of eighteen punk rock favourites. Recorded in Colombo, Sri Lanka and London with two separate string orchestras, the adventure, and should be a movie, involved stolen tapes and recording devices, blackmail, a double bass playing bus driver who was so tired he performed lying on his back.

Mnty has spoken to many of the artists who wrote and performed on the original songs songs over the years and it seems to have gone down well with them. John Peel played the classical version of "Teenage Kicks" many times and called Monty out of the blue to congratulate him on the album. Charlie Brooker used the album as the soundtrack to one of his Screenwipe episodes.

It is still available to buy, stream and download
