Welcome to the delicious world of Monty and dubious Brothers
Monty was the lead singer with dubious Brothers, the anarcho-music hall cult act that bewildered audiences and critics in the late eighties, with turn of the century tunes set to biting modern lyrics. He then went on to write for the even more legendary Èl records and launched a solo career, releasing albums in the UK and Japan with Humbug, Cherry Red, Polystar and Midi Mitsubishi. He has written music for film and TV. In 2019, his song Cantona Superstar was perfomed by French band Juniore in the Lily Rose Depp movie "Les Fauves".
He has always been seen as an eccentric on the fringes of pop. He arranged and produced the seminal "Classical Punk" (known in the USA as "Symphony of Destruction") by the London Punkharmonic Orchestra: a sixteen-piece string section playing all your punk favourites (MCI/Demon records).
His first two solo albums "A Typical Scorpio" and "The Napoleon Complex" both pioneered and saw off the 90s lounge revival in the UK. He returned in 2006 with "The Judas Window", a heavier luscious almost lounge-goth affair that loosened some ties and raised pettycoats to well above the ankle. Now, Narcissus, has re-released "Antiques - The Best Of the Dubious Brothers" 15 Classic dubious Brothers songs one one juicy CD, available with "The Napoleon Complex" and "The Judas Window" from this site.
All the albums, including "A Typical Scorpio" are available on iTunes, Spotify and Amazon Prime. Also available is the DVD, Live At Bush Hall, celebrating the Dubious Brothers triumphant reunion show at the Bush Hall in Shepherd's Bush, London in 2014.
